Getting organized

Sometime each winter, usually right around New Years, I  get ambitious about cleaning out and getting organized. In this years’ round of organizing, I ended up with an extra clear  shoe-organizer thing-y.

I decided to put it back to use, to hold my small scraps. They’d been in plastic bins, roughly color-sorted, but having them laid out like a rainbow there, is definitely encouraging me to use them more.

It’s not how it’s supposed to work, but I liked the scrappy project so much that I finished it before the original project.

These little aqua rectangles are the ends of some strip piecing that were too short for the squares I needed.  A few extra strips, some borders, some quilting – and a set of coasters I really like.

There’s something so satisfying about these projects. Just sew a pair of squares together to keep from cutting the threads while you’re doing something else – suddenly you’ve got an apple green patchwork block.


A few of them, and you’ve got a table runner. (Magic!)
