I’ve been particularly bad at generating UFO’s this winter.

Most of them are still decidedly unfinished, but I did get one tiny project off the list: a pair of potholders.

Granted, there’s still a bunch of these blocks half-pieced for a tablerunner, but I’m working on celebrating the small victories tonight.

New potholders

These new potholders have been gracing my kitchen for the last week or so. I won’t show you the potholders these replaced: suffice it to say they were commercial potholders that were merely good-enough when they were new, and they were far from new.

I first pulled this stack of fabric back in early December when I was playing around without a clear goal.

But, coincidentally, the blue is a perfect match for my kitchen, so I started cutting and sewing strips, and quilting lots of diagonal lines.

The combination kind of looks like a cold rain to me, but I like it anyways.

More Christmas Sewing

Another quick Christmas sewing project: simple potholders.

I’m glad that we’re seeing modern designs in the Christmas fabric selections, since these potholders are just one fabric per side. This time of year, I appreciate projects like this that are quick (not quite instant) gratification.

Funny, though, I definitely think of them as having a front (the circles and snowflakes) and back (the stripes)

Series-es

What is the plural of “series”? “Serieses”? “Series” the same as the singular? They both look/sound wrong, but then, I’m typing before the caffeine has fully kicked in on the Monday after a holiday weekend, so whatever the word is, I’m going to proceed. I’ve been doing this more and more lately – making not just one project, but a series of projects from the same set of fabrics.

Pinwheel Trivet

I made a few projects in orange and pink (pillow and quilt) after getting inspired making a custom quilt, and made even more in aqua (pillow, quilt, another pillow and a tablerunner ) and we won’t get into the “watercolors” Now I’m (obviously) onto a group of geometric apple-green prints.

Quilted Potholders

Much as I love quilts, there’s something so satisfying about small projects like this. I made potholders, trivets and pillows. There’s a table runner cut out and waiting for some attention, and another trivet from the last of the scraps.

Pillows..

These are all for the shop, which helps, since  I don’t have to worry about my own home becoming too apple-green with my projects.

Do you ever make multiple projects together? or is each one a distinct process for you?
